Can you remember the last time you played in dirt? No gloves. Just bare hands. You and the earth. Everytime I slide my fingers through the rich soil, the coolness calms me. It relieves stress…naturally. So, plant something. No experience required. Just give yourself the gift a little dirt, seed, and water.
Last season, I took a trip to a little market in town to pick up seeds for kale. While I was there I found a beautiful green pepper plant. It had two tiny peppers and I was determined to grow them. Each morning, I stepped out on my deck to water them, speak to them, and smile at them. I felt like a proud mother all over again. One month later pepper #1 was larger enough to dice and have in a omelette. So good. Pepper #2 didn’t grow as much but I learned something: the journey was a joy. Who knew playing in dirt with two plants could bring such happiness?
I invite you to try it. Have fun, relieve stress, and feel amazing. When was the last time you played in the dirt?
